Q: How can I change the bulbs? Is it hard to get inside the lantern to change them? Is there a door that opens?

A: Most of our lanterns have a door that opens to allow access to the bulbs so they can be changed easily.Back to top



Q: Does my lantern come with bulbs?

A: No. Lanternland lanterns do not include bulbs. Back to top



Q:  What kind of bulbs do I need?

A: Lanternland lanterns use either medium Edison base (standard) bulbs or candelabra style bulbs depending on the model. Back to top



Q: What is the maximum wattage bulbs I can use in my lantern

A: Lanternland lanterns are UL listed for bulbs up to 60 watts. Back to top



Q: What kind of bulbs can I use? Can I use LED bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL) or Halogen bulbs?

A: Yes. You can use any type of bulb that uses no more than 60 watts. The best bulbs depend on your needs.We would be happy to make a suggestion based on your situation.

Q: Will those candle bulbs give me enough light?

A: Yes. The lumen is a measure of the total amount of visible light emitted by a source. The number of lumens varies depending on the bulb. Typically there is not a significant difference in the number of lumens in a candelabra base bulb vs. a medium Edison base (standard) bulb. Back to top



Q: How is the finish applied? Is it painted?

A: All our finishes are the result of a natural chemical process. Chemicals are applied by hand to the brass or copper which accelerate the natural aging process. As a result of this organic process, each finish is unique. Our finishes do not use any paint. Back to top



Q: How do I clean my lantern? Can I use brass or copper cleaner?

A: Do not use brass or copper cleaner. Brass or copper cleaner can damage the finish. Lanternland lanterns are best clean with a soft cloth and warm water. A mild soap or detergent may be used if necessary but should be tested on a small area first.Back to top



Q: Will the finish change?

A: Yes. It is natural for brass and copper to change color as they age. Slight variations in finish are a natural characteristic of brass and copper. Environmental influences determine the speed and nature of these changes and they are neither predictable nor covered by warranty in any manner.

Q: Can I use your lanterns outdoors?

A: Yes. All Lanternland lighting is suitable for outdoor use unless otherwise noted.Back to top



Q: Can I use your lanterns in wet locations?

A: Lanternland hanging and ceiling mounted lanterns are UL rated for Damp Locations and can be used in areas that have indirect exposure to moisture such as a covered porch or patio. All other Lanternland lighting is UL rated for Wet Locations and can be used in areas that have direct exposure to moisture such as rain and snow. Back to top



Q: Are your lanterns dark sky compliant?

A: Most Lanternland lanterns are not dark sky compliant but many can be made compliant with dark sky regulations upon request. Back to top



Q: How long will my lantern last?

A: Lanternland lanterns are designed to last for decades under normal circumstances and include a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship.   Back to top

Q: What finishes do you suggest for locations near salt water?

A: We recommend the using brass rather than copper for locations near salt water. The best finishes to use are Verdi Green, Chemical Rust,Antique Brass or Dark Brass.  Back to top
